《上阵父子兵》是著名导演花箐继《我的兄弟叫顺溜》、《远去的飞鹰》之后的又一部战争力作，也是他“抗战三部曲”的收官之作。该剧仍从小人物出发，描写了一位老实巴交的农民乔日成为了一路追随“不孝”之子乔群，最终成为抗日英雄的传奇故事。
