抗战时期，大陈岛乡绅吴匡时拉起武装对抗日寇，渔民叶阿大为保护吴家二少爷再青，被日寇杀害。叶阿大儿子叶忠义与吴再青结拜为兄弟，兄弟俩同时爱上了戏班班主的女儿阿春。叶忠义遭迫害逃往大陆，成为解放军军官；吴再青随大陈人迁往台湾成为高级特工，但他仍念念不忘阿春。已是阿春丈夫的海防部队军人叶忠义为履行职责和保卫爱情，与再青展开新的角逐。改革开放后，分离了三十年的老人重逢并收获了各自的爱情。
