千万年前，鲛鱼魔王侵占花果山，被孙悟空剿灭。此战中，暗恋孙悟空的蜘蛛精为救悟空而死。佛祖封印悟空法力命其带着面具在人间修行。千万年后，蜘蛛精转世和悟空相遇再续前缘，遭到被悟空灭族的鲛鱼后代鲛鱼女阻挠。原来，鲛鱼女已和西游时被悟空打死的六耳猕猴联手合谋，对悟空展开疯狂复仇。鲛鱼女隐藏身份利用美色诱惑孙悟空。六耳猕猴冒充悟空对蜘蛛精感情欺骗，为让悟空背上情债，无法解脱。可鲛鱼女在和悟空的朝夕相处中，竟逐渐对悟空生出情愫。而这一切，也因鲛鱼女的一个奋不顾身达到高潮，更引出一场千年别离。最终，悟空在唐僧点化下，放下与六耳猕猴决斗。终见如来。
故事的舞台是一个叫“Chuggington”的小镇，那里住着各种各样的火车。英语的“Chuggchugg”相当于日语的“Shushupopo”，将“chugg”和“town（小镇）”组合成“Chuggington”，也就是小镇名字的由来。在这里住着许多火车，他们和人类一起生活一起从事各种各样的工作。主人公是住在这个小镇上的小见习火车3人组，他们是“威尔逊(Wilson)”、“可可(Koko)”和“布鲁斯特(Brewster)”。故事描述了生活在Chuggington镇的3人，在火车前辈的指导下经历各种各样的事情，一起欢笑难过，一起成长的过程，既让人轻松愉悦，也不乏温馨感动。
